The operation concerns the production of increased quality honey, without the use of active substances (amitraz) to counteract varroosis, through the means of creating an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of bees and honey cultivation, as well as ensuring the presence of grasslands and appropriate soil to obtain health qualities and a desirable price class. Project implementation will see the creation of innovative mini-apiaries with automatic honey extractors. Aside from ensuring the well-being of the bees, their innovative construction and technology, as well as high energy efficiency, will support single-person operations and greatly ease any physical strength requirements. The project will also examine the use of vermiculite, a clay mineral, to isolate the beehives, as well as its effectiveness as a delivery vector for oxalic acid, counteracting varroosis. The project will also examine the use of vermiculite, a clay mineral, to isolate the beehives, as well as its effectiveness as a delivery vector for oxalic acid, counteracting varroosis.
The beehives will feature an innovative construction, with a controlled environment and automatic microclimate regulation. The project intends for the beehive construction (free of excessive moisture, detrimental to the bees) to limit, or even eliminate, varroosis – one of the most dangerous bee parasitic diseases- without the use of chemicals. During the research, we will create special seed mixtures to improve the quality of grasslands and implement innovative methods of marketing the natural honey from fully controlled pro-health cultivation, utilizing aspects of gamification. It will involve the creation of an internet community centered around the production of natural honey using new media – Google Adwords ads, gif images – short vlogs and aspects of competition between project participants.
